Hello! I’m Mieka!

Wanna hang out for a while?

I’m looking for a forever home, you know.

Hard to believe, right? Because I’m so cute and sweet, right?

I know. But it’s true!

I figure I shouldn’t have too much trouble finding people. I do love them a whole lot, especially the small ones. They are my FAVOURITE!! Sometimes, when I’m walking, I’ll see kids and want to meet them but my foster mom isn’t paying attention, so I have to drag her over to them. I’m hoping my forever family has children; I couldn’t imagine life without little ones.

But not little cats. Or little bunnies. Or birds. And possibly not very small dogs. I find small animals way too much fun to chase and the small animals usually don’t like that. I don’t understand why not, I’m just trying to play….. I might be ok with another dog in the house, but it would have to be a very special dog and we should meet a few times to see if our personalities are a good match. I’d prefer to be the only furry family member if I’m being totally honest.

I love going for walks….now. I didn’t at first. I have a little, ahem, extra going on right now and I need to work on that. Longer walks used to poop me right out! I’m up to about an hour of solid exercise – GO ME! I’m pretty healthy otherwise, except for some much needed dental work. Zoe’s is getting on that right away too!

Most of my life has been spent outdoors, so indoor living has been a bit of a challenge at times. I’m a quick learner though! For instance, I learned right away that my foster mom’s bed is SUPER comfy and snuggling with her at night is AWESOME! I’m working through some indoors-at-night anxiety, snuggling up with a human has been the best treatment so far. I’ll snuggle up with a human any time of the day. I like to be near my people all the time and will go to great lengths to get to them. I got myself stuck in the kitty door of a gate trying to get to my person. That a was a little scary, but also a little funny too.

Someone once said that I am the kind of dog who will get you to stop and take a look at the world around you. Isn’t that sweet? People are just the best.

It’s been nice hanging out with you. Maybe we should make this a forever friendship.

Fosters of the Week: George Weasley & Miss Blue

Hi, I’m George, the handsome tabby chap on the right. The smoke show on the left is my sister, Miss Blue.

Don’t mind her. She’s not a snoot, she’s just not as outgoing and adventurous as I am. She’s always in a good mood though and loves to snuggle. In fact, Blue always gets the best snuggle spots and I just fit myself in where I can. I’m a gentleman like that.

We were born at Zoe’s back in 2013.

We found a home together quite quickly however, we were returned. ::sad face:: We were adopted again, but then our people changed jobs and would be travelling for weeks at a time. ::double sad face:: So here we are…. Back at Zoe’s again. (It’s totally true what they say about Zoe’s… Once a Zoe’s animal, always a Zoe’s animal.)

We’re not down, though, nope! We’ve got each other and Zoe’s has the best foster homes.

As happy as we are here, we really would love to settle down with a forever family. We’re not exactly sure what we are looking for in a forever home, outside of humans who love us, of course. We haven’t been around dogs, so we don’t know how we feel about them. We haven’t been around other cats either, so no opinions on them. (We do like each other, so… haha!) We’ve been around babies, but not kids; we imagine kids would be fine as long as they can respect our space and boundaries. Our only steadfast request is that we must be adopted together. We’ve been together since birth and want to stay together.

If you ask us, we are right in the thick of the sweet spot of Cathood. We are past that annoying kitten stage (we aren’t too proud to admit how annoying we probably were when we were younger), but we still love to play and have fun. We’ve had three years to perfect our cuddle and believe us when we say we are serious pros. We are Turnkey Cats, bring us home, add water and love, and ta-da!!!!

You know what they say about cats…. Why have one when you can have TWO!!

Foster of the Week: Lovey

Hi, do you mind if I sit next to you?

I’ll be no bother, I’d just like to sit and observe the world. You can pet me if you like, I’d love that. Or we can just sit. I’d like that too.

I’m Lovey.

People say my name suits me perfectly because I’m sweet, quiet and calm. And because I really love to be pet. I could sit next to a human for hours as long as the pets keep coming. (I’ll nudge you if you stop, so just keeping petting…)

I am working on being an indoor dog. It’s kind of a tough adjustment, let me say. I was terrified when I first got to my foster home. It was new and strange, there were these things called stairs, so many smells….. I didn’t know if this new place would be good or scary. I’m still reserved and unsure at times, but this place is pretty good. It’s warm and comfortable and there is always food. My foster mom is so patient with me, I’ve grown to love and trust her a lot. She let me take my time getting into the house (and I took a really long time), she worked with me on those stair things, she taught me how to walk on a leash and she’s given me time to relax and open up – a work still in progress. She loves me exactly how I am and I really love that.

I have a crate in my foster home, I like it a lot. If I am feeling scared or nervous, I just go into my crate. It makes me feel safe. Sometimes I’ll hang out in my crate with a bone just because. I do enjoy a good bone! I like to run and sometimes I feel inclined to play with the dogs in my foster home, but I do like to take my time warming up to the ideas. I think I would like a dog sibling in my forever home; I’d like a friend to help my confidence grow.

That’s what I’ve been working on lately: my confidence. A patient and experienced forever home is a must for me so that I can continue to grow into a balanced lady. I will repay your patience with love and loyalty times ten.

I’ve really enjoyed sitting next to you. Maybe we should make this a forever thing?

Foster of the Week: Princess Peach

Hi again! Princess Peach here!

It’s been a few months since we last chatted, I have so much to tell you.

I abdicated my throne at Rabbit Hill Pet Value, it wasn’t really my style. I took over a more homey castle for a short time, however I found myself to be quite put off by feline subjects. So off I went in search of more suitable lands.

And now here I am, in the absolute best kingdom yet!

There are no other animal subjects here, just two-legged loyals and I love them so.

We have the liveliest conversations and they understand that my affection is on my terms. Make no mistake, I am a very affectionate princess. I adore head rubs and will somersault into your hand for them. I also quite enjoy lying beside you while you love and pet me. When I have had enough, I will simply wander away for some me time. My humans also understand that as sole monarch, everything in this kingdom is mine. As such, I rub myself on everything – furniture and humans alike. I will also flop onto my back so you can admire my beautiful tummy, it’s a sign of love. But hands off! It’s just for show.

I consider myself the People’s Princess. A feline Princess Diana, if you will. While I do have some regal requests, ones that I will not bend, I am sweet and loving and FUN! This princess is not too proper to play! I love wand toys. My foster mom says I carry the wand away with glorious triumph when I catch it. And I have a catnip toy that is just marvelous for tousling.

I am so happy to have finally settled in a suitable home. I’ve shed my sassy shell and have become the princess and lady I am meant to be.

Foster of the Week: Lucy Lu

HIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!! I’M LUCY!!!

It is soooooo good to meet you! Do you want go for a run? Play? Wrestle? Snuggle? Chew on some toys? Fetch? Take a nap?

What should we doooooooo????????

Everything?!?!?!

You know, I wasn’t always this happy. I used to be so shy and nervous, scared of everything. I had a home, things were good, but then one day I found myself in a crate in this strange woman’s house. She was very nice, if not a little goofy, and I was sure she meant no harm, but everything was strange and scary. She kept her distance, but kept offering food until my fear softened, which was actually my stomach growling, and I finally decided to venture out of my crate.

Guess what happened then!?!?!?

She had MORE FOOD!! And OTHER DOGS who I could play with. And leashes for WALKS!!!!

Guys, it was SO AWESOME!!!!

I was still scared, but the goofy lady of love was very patient and, well, loving. Then I got moved again. And I was scared again. Less scared than before, but still nervous. Again the people were so patient and kind and now? I HAVE THE BEST LIFE EVER!!

I have a Boston Terrier BFF who is AWESOME! We play and wrestle all the time. (Sometimes I accidentally fall off the bed when we are wrestling… Oops!) We are superstar nappers too. Uh huh. And I get to go to dog daycare. Do you know how many friends I have there? OVER FORTY! There are toys and pools and so much space to run. There are even comfy beds and tons of snuggle buds to choose from. It’s the best! Then I get to go home with my people and wiggle in nice and tight for more snuggles. There’s always room for Lucy!

It really doesn’t get any better. I am always happy; my tail is always wagging, bum always shaking. I love this new life with my whole heart.

I guess there is one way my life could be better: A forever home.

People who will love me as much as I can love them: madly and deeply. People who will understand that I can be shy and timid in new situations, but if you can be patient with me, I can learn to trust you. And people with another dog, because I can’t imagine life without canine siblings.

Foster of the Week: Crossy

Finally! You’re here! Let’s go sit and cuddle, you can rub my head while I tell you all about me.

My name is Crossy. I’m six years old and sweet as can be.

I came to Zoe’s as an SNR. Zoe’s has a fabulous Spay/Neuter Return program and I came in to be spayed. However, during my examination, it was discovered that I have an autoimmune disease: eosinophilic granuloma complex. That’s what was causing all the sores on my body. (I looked pretty rough when I came in.) Having been properly diagnosed, the lovely Zoe’s people could treat my sores and try to make sure I don’t get them again. I am feeling SO much better!

Eosinophilic granuloma complex is easy to treat. All it takes is a simple steroid shot. My foster mom sneaks it when I’m devouring some delicious wet food and I don’t even notice.

I LOVE people. Love, love, LOVE them!! I am ecstatic when my foster mom comes home. I run to greet her at the door and sweetly demand snuggles. There’s nothing I love more than sitting on her lap, snuggling and head-butting her. She let me sleep on her bed with her and I didn’t even know what to do with myself. A WHOLE night snuggled next to my human!?!? How could life possibly get any better!!??

My foster mom says I make her feel like the most important person in the world. I love her so much.

I also love when people come to visit. I always say “a stranger is a just lap you haven’t yet had the chance to warm.” I like other cats too, but not all of them are as friendly and outgoing as I am. I forget that sometimes, so I can be a little too much for them. I just need reminders and proper introductions so I don’t overwhelm my feline friends.

I can get very carried away with my love and affection, which sometimes leads to mouthing and biting. I don’t mean to hurt and my foster mom is working on this with me, but I shouldn’t be around young children until I get a handle on this. I really don’t want to hurt anyone.
