Rescue Story:
Zoe's is helping my foster family find my forever home
**As a courtesy post Zoe's has not met "Mickey", we facilitate the adoption behind the scenes to ensure a safe rehoming. We make sure the animals are vetted but do not personally know the animal. It is the adopters responsibility to do their due diligence -ask for vet records, get the microchip changed, potentially involve a force free trainer for an assessment and/or ask for a trial period.**

Energy Level: Medium - I don't really like to play, and I don't like it when others play. I like to bark.

I was always an only dog but now live with 2 bigger dogs, they're kinda scary but I'm doing ok with them.
Good with Cats? No
I don't have any experience with cats.
Good with Kids? No
I need a home with no children.

My name is Mickey. I am a 10-year old neutered male Dorkie (Dachshund/Yorkie terrier cross) and weigh approximately 20 pounds. My elderly mom recently passed away and I am fostering with her son while looking for a new home. I would do best in a home without children and with someone who is either retired or works from home so I can lay at their feet. I love being with my people. I am not super cuddly as I prefer to be on the floor by my person, although I will occasionally come onto the couch for scratches. I do love my scratches - and walks! If you need someone to love, I might just be the Dorkie for you!
About my Behaviour:
I can stay home by myself for several hours but am not happy being in a kennel or being away from my people when I know they are home. My foster dad and mom are working hard at teaching me some basic courtesies, like “wait”, “come” and “off”. My foster parents tell me I am pretty smart and am learning quickly. I am getting along very well with my foster pitbull sisters and chihuahua cousins but I can be reactive to other dogs when on a walk.
How’s my Health?
I am healthy for an older dog, have all of my shots and I’m not on any medications or special diet, but sometimes I need something to help me calm down.
